Brace Setout

This tool helps to adjust work line based on predefined parameters for vertical as well as horizontal brace.

How to locate

Installers are available at Brace Setout.

After installation, the 'Brace Set-out' is available in the component catalogcatalog that contains all system components and custom components, and the macros and applications



Select the braces which requires adjustment and reference member is required for horizontal braces adjustment.

Brace Type

Vertical Adjust work line for vertical braces
Reference plane To adjust horizontal braces against reference member position

Vertical Braces

Work Line Adjust the brace vertical flange based on weld / bolt line.
Gusset Adjust the brace position to accommodate gusset plate
Both Above both options are considered

Reference Plane

Work Line Adjust the brace horizontal flange based on weld / bolt line.
Reference  Move the brace with reference to reference member
Both Above both options are considered


Gusset Thk Type

Standard The gusset thickness is based on brace thickness and the mapping is available in file "Gusset thickness.txt" which is available in system folder. (Ex. common\system)
User User can provide non-standard thickness


Work-Line Type

Single gauge Brace is adjusted based on single guage line against flange width and the mapping is available in file "L Profile Gaugelines.txt" which is available in system folder (Ex. common\system). 
Double gauge Brace is adjusted based on middle of double guage lines against flange width. The mapping is available in "L Profile Gaugelines.txt" file
COG / Weld Line Brace is adjusted based on COG line and this value is based profile information and for parametric profiles the mapping information is available in file "Brace CG.txt" which is available in system folder (Ex. common\system).
Centre Brace is adjusted to middle of flange
User gauge User value is used to adjust brace

Reference Type

Once you selected the reference member then braces have to selected and only braces between top flange and bottom flange plane of reference member are filtered for further process.

Top Move the brace to the top  of reference member
Middle Move the brace to the middle of reference member
Bottom Move the brace to the bottom of reference member



User can select the required brace sand it displays the filtered quantity based profile type and also boundary planeplane whose position is defined by the edge of a bounding box

of reference member.


To perform the brace set-out adjustments, press the 'Adjust' button and the result is displayed as report.

For Brace shape TwinAngles below highlighted options are available.

Note: Brace set out For Twin Angle will only work for Twin angles created with Builtup Angle Macrosaved series of actions that includes instructions for a program

Macros are located in the applications and components catalog. They are recorded or created manually and stored as .cs file in a folder defined with the advanced option XS_MACRO_DIRECTORY.

Macros can, for example, be used for creating drawings or reports.

Macros are sometimes used to run an application.
