Example: How to filter out dimension tag content

In this example, you will remove from a dimension tagpart of a dimension that displays additional information about the building object

some content that is added in the tag automatically based on the dimension end point locations. First you will create a drawing viewview that includes selected model objects or an area in the model, that is represented in a drawing

A drawing view is a container for model and drawing objects.

A drawing can include several drawing views, which usually are two-dimensional views, plane views, to the model.

Examples of drawing views in Tekla Structures include main views, section views, single-part views, and 3D views.

The example below shows a tag that automatically contains the text "CORBELconcrete part representing a structure that projects from the face of a concrete part and that serves as a support for an overhanging part and connects the parts

". You will remove this text.

To create the filter and remove the desired content:

  1. Open a drawing.
  2. Double-click the view frame to open the View Properties dialog box.
  3. Click Filter.
  4. Click Add row and create a filter according to the example below so that you select Template as the category, and MATERIAL_TYPE as the property, and enter CONCRETE as the value.

  5. Enter concrete as the name of the filter in the box next to the Save as button and click the button to save the filter.
  6. In the drawing, double-click the dimension that contains the content that you want to remove.
  7. In the Dimension Properties dialog box, go to the Tags page.
  8. In Exclude parts according to filter , select the concrete filter.
  9. Click Modify.

    Tekla Structures removes the text "CORBEL" from the dimension tag. The material type of corbel is concrete, and the concrete filter removes all concrete parts from the tag.
