1   Common to all US Roles

1.1   Environment ini files

Due to the improvements to Reference models in drawings, the following variables have been moved to the Obsolete section of the US environment ini files:

- Obsolete
  • XS_REFERENCE_MODEL_HIDDEN_LINE_TYPE
  • XS_REFERENCE_MODEL_LINES_HIDDEN_BY_ITSELF
  • XS_REFERENCE_MODEL_LINES_HIDDEN_BY_OTHER_REFERENCE_MODELS
  • XS_REFERENCE_MODEL_LINES_HIDDEN_BY_PARTS

1.2   Modeling

Object Representationrepresentation of a model object or an object group in a model view, such a representation being based on the color and transparency settings applied to the model object or the object group

- New Color by Assembly Type attribute

1.3   User-Defined Attributes

The following changes were made to the objects.inp files used by the roles.

New - Organization option for Locked UDAs.

Included UDAobject property created by the user in order to widen the range of predefined object properties

User-defined attributes are used when the predefined object properties are not sufficient but more properties are needed. For example, comment, locked, and erection status are user-defined attributes.

tabs for new Bent Plate(1) part that is created from contour plates, or beams whose profile is a plate

(1) Bent plates can be conical or cylindrical.

Curved beams, spiral beams, or deformed parts cannot be used for creating a bent plate.

(2) component object that represents an angle that is bent from a plate and that connects parts

Added new UDAs to support Custom Grid Labels.

Other Minor Changes

To support change to Rebar coupler and anchor tools, the coupler UDAs where moved from the role objects.inp file to the new objects_coupler.inp file.

The word Style was misspelled on the Title Block Style & Preview tab. This has been corrected.

The Inquire Pours report has been update to support the new Pour Unit.

1.6   Templates

Settings

The following contentattributes files have been updated.

  • Contentattributes_global.lst – updated to support the new Usage attributes.

1.7   Drawings

We have included a New Centerline line pattern for use in the new Pattern Line tool.

Now that you can save and load printing settings, we have provided two attibutes to help you get started. The Local Default Printer setting will automatically find and use your default printer. Update this attribute as needed or create your own.

2   Steel Detailing     

2.1   Steel Detailing Role

The Steel Detailing Role was created to include only the items needed to use Tekla Structures for Steel Detailing and Steel Fabrication. This Role combines the contents of the environment folders with the contents of the us_roles\steel folders. The Role_Steel_Detailing.ini file located in the usimp (usmet) folder runs after the env_US_imperial.ini (env_US_metric.ini) file is run. 
 

2.2   Model Template

The Steel Detailing model templatemodel which is used as a basis for creating new models

The user can save a model including all its elements, such as object properties, certain settings, parts, and components, in a model template.

has been updated to support this version.

2.3   Organizer

Object Browsertool in Organizer used to inquire, view, and report model information based on selected model objects

The Weld List has been updated

  • The Length field was split into NS/FS. Previously only showed edge length and BS welds were wrong.
  • Add ability to calculate Intermittent welds.
  • Removed GUID.

In order to calculate the intermittent welds in the Organizertool that is used for categorizing and managing model information, object properties and object property queries, and model object classification

Organizer consists of two tools, object browser and categories.

, the WELD_PERIOD1 and WELD_PERIOD2 attributes were updated to have their decimal places and units set in the contentattributes_global.lst file.

2.4   Drawings

All GA Drawingdrawing that is created from one or more model views and that shows information needed to understand the general arrangement of structural elements on a project

General arrangement drawings show how parts, assemblies, cast units, or pour objects are located in a building.

Object level settings can be defined when creating a new drawing or when modifying an open drawing.

Object level settings can be use in a drawing or in a drawing view in order to change the representation of the chosen drawing objects.

3   Engineering     

3.1   Engineering Role

The Engineering Role was created to include items an engineer needs to use Tekla Structures. This Role combines the contents of the environment folders with the contents of the us_roles\engineering folders. The Role_Engineering.ini file, located in the usimp (usmet) folder, runs after the env_US_imperial.ini (env_US_metric.ini) file is run.
 

3.2   Model Templates 

The Engineering model template has been updated to support this version.

3.3   Template

The Engr_30x42Vertical template uses the Project Start Date attribute and resulted in an extra 0 after the date. This has been fixed.

3.4   Drawings

All GA Drawing attributes have been updated to support the improvements make to Reference models in drawings.

4   Precast Detailing     

4.1   Precast Detailing Role

The Precast Detailing Role was created to include only the items needs to use Tekla Structures for Precast Detailing. This Role combines the contents of the environment folders with the contents of the us_roles\precast folders. The Role_Precast_Detailing.ini file located in the usimp (usmet) folder runs after the env_US_imperial.ini (env_US_metric.ini) file is run.

4.2   Model Template

The Precast Detailing model template has been updated to support this version.

4.3   Drawings

All GA Drawing attributes have been updated to support the improvements make to Reference models in drawings.

Master Drawing Catalogcatalog that is used for creating drawings by using master drawings

Master drawing catalog can be used for searching for master drawings usually in the current model and saving the search results.

Some "house cleaning" was done in the Precast role's Master Drawing Cataloguser interface for displaying or modifying information in categorized lists

For example, profile catalog and shape catalog are catalogs.

  • Added Red Stars to Rule Sets
  • Removed _Form and _ Rebar thumbnails (the attributes were removed previously)
  • Added thumbnails for missing Cast Unit attributes found in this role
  • Created new NotFound attribute for use in Rule Sets
  • Updated Rule Sets to have a "catch all" at the end which uses the NotFound attribute.
  • Updated Cast-unit drawing search group in include both the attributes provided in the Precast role and cloning templatemaster drawing where an existing drawing is used to copy the drawing settings for a new drawing

    The new drawing has the same drawing settings as the original drawing.

    The user creates a cloning template of a drawing typically after extensive manual modifications have been made in the drawing, in order to achieve the same appearance and contents in new drawings.

    In the master drawing catalog, it is possible to create single-part, assembly, and cast unit drawings using cloning templates. It is also possible to add new cloning templates to the master drawing catalog from the document manager.

5   Cast In Place / Rebar Detailing     

5.1   Cast In Place (or Rebar Detailing) Role

The Cast In Place (and Rebar Detailing) Role was created to include only the items needs to use Tekla Structures for Cast In Place / Rebar Detailing projects. This Role combines the contents of the environment folders with the contents of the us_roles\castinplace folders. The Role_Cast_In_Place.ini (or Role_Rebar_Detailing.ini) file located in the usimp (usmet) folder runs after the env_US_imperial.ini (env_US_metric.ini) file is run.

The following variable was removed from this role’s ini file:

- Removed from role...now reading from US environment ini file.

  • XS_REBAR_POSITION_NUMBER_FORMAT_STRING

5.2   Model Template

The CIPcast unit type where the concrete is formed, poured, and cured in its final position

-Rebar Detailing model template has been updated to support this version.

5.3   Components

The standard attributes have been updated to support the changes to the following.
  • Meshreinforcement that represents a mesh of steel bars in two perpendicular directions

    In Tekla Structures, the reinforcement mesh bars in one direction are called main bars and reinforcement mesh bars perpendicular to them are called crossing bars.

5.4   Template

The CS_PourScheduleDM template did not output Pour Types. This has been fixed.

5.5   Drawings

All GA Drawing attributes have been updated to support the improvements make to Reference models in drawings.

Master Drawing Catalog

Some "house cleaning" was done in the Cast In Place (Rebar Detailing) role's Master Drawing Catalog.

  • Updated General arrangement drawings search group to only include attributes found in this role.
  • Updated Cast-unit drawings search group to only include attributes found in this role.
