Purpose and description

Use the Volume of bolt (1) connecting building object that is defined in the bolt assembly, and that fastens parts or assemblies or attaches to them

(1) Bolt must belong to a bolt assembly before it can be used in modeling.

(2) bolt element that represents a metal rod or pin that has a head at one end and the other end is open and threaded

(2) Bolts and other bolt elements are listed in the bolt catalog.

(2) A bolt is usually secured by a nut. A bolt is part of the bolt assembly.

component to calculate the volume of the bolt holes that affect a part and to write them into a UDA object property created by the user in order to widen the range of predefined object properties

User-defined attributes are used when the predefined object properties are not sufficient but more properties are needed. For example, comment, locked, and erection status are user-defined attributes.

file. You can see the values in the UDA file when you inquire the part. You can use that UDA in reports to calculate the real volume of the part, and also the weight. The name of the UDA is BOLT_HOLE small hollow open throughout a part or assembly and used for fastening parts with bolts or other such objects

Hole is created in the same way as bolts and hole properties are defined in the bolt properties dialog box.

System requirements

Tekla Structures version: 19.1
.NET Framework version: 4.0
Environments:   All

Installing Volume of bolt holes

To install the extension:

  1. Download the Volume of bolt holes file package from the Tekla Extranet.
  2. Extract the file package.

Using Volume of bolt holes

To use the application:

  1. Open a Tekla Structures model building information model that is built with Tekla Structures and that represents a structure to be constructed, containing information needed to manufacture and construct the structure, and other information related to the project

A model is the single source of information for drawings and other model outputs, such as reports and NC files. This ensures that the information in drawings and reports is always up to date, since they react to modifications in the model and are updated accordingly.

Tekla Structures supports multiple users working concurrently on the same model, even in different locations.

A model can be utilized in other software.

  2. If the Volume of bolt holes toolbar is not visible, follow the steps:
    1. Click Tools > Customize to open the Customize dialog box.
    2. Select the Volume of bolt holes toolbar and select the Visible check box.
  3. Click the Volume of bolt holes button .
  4. The Volume of bolt holes dialog box opens.

  1. Make the desired modifications.
    1. If the selected option is set to All parts, the tool calculates the bolt group group of bolts that forms a connecting building object between an assembly main part and secondary parts

The number of bolts in a bolt group depends on the bolt group shape and the values of bolt distances.

volume for all parts that have bolts.

In the message panel the tool displays the bolt group volume.

  1. If the selected option is set to Selected parts, the tool calculates the bolt group volume only for the selected parts that have bolts.

In the message panel the tool displays the bolt group volume.

The values are also displayed in the Inquire dialog box of the parts.
